Here’s How it Works

HeartMath technology is an innovative approach to improving emotional wellbeing. Learn to change your heart rhythm pattern to create physiological coherence. Choose between 8 up to 12 session coaching packages for Heartmath - heart coherence biofeedback for stress, resilience and anxiety. Number of sessions is decided on patient-to-patients needs. In general expect a weekly session for six weeks, the one more session one month out and the one last session one more month. This way skills can be developed with closer monitoring and teachings, and then checked over a period of a few months. Improved Heart rate variability has been linked to resilience, improved performance, cardiovascular health and improved stress response.

What is HRV or heart rate variability?

HRV is a measurement of the variation in time between each heartbeat. This variability is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (ANS). A balanced ANS is important because it regulates stress response, digestion, heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure - all important measures of overall health. When the ANS is imbalanced towards what is called Sympathetic dominance, people can be in a chronic state of flight-or-fight resulting in increased anxiety and reduced mood. Getting the ANS out of fight-or-flight and into a parasympathetic state (also called rest-and-digest) more often can help with overall health, reduced stress and a better sense of well being.

Improve heart rate variability and heart coherence

HeartMath meditations can be helpful because it has been shown in research studies to improve heart rate variability and heart coherence. Heart coherence is a smoothness in the mathematical form of the wave the heart generated as it beats. This state of coherence has been shown to create a deeper connection with the brain to create a state of resilience and mental well being.

HeartMath meditations with use of biofeedback can help to monitor improvements in HRV and coherence and also can be used during the day - while working and interacting with others. The meditations can also be used in a sitting and quiet state. It is a practical technique for our busy lives.
